ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Original Digital Painting Year: 1987~2020 Medium: Charcoal pencil, Pastel, Photo Collage, Digital, Acrylic paints Paper Size: 610x830mm Freame Size: 635x870mm Picture Layout: Portrait Material: Hahnemühle Photo Rag Metallic 340g, Epson UltraChrome® HDX Hand-signed by SungHee KIM *Artist comment Inspired by 아이유(IU) '에잇(Prod.&Feat. SUGA of BTS)' I used various materials to express the mixed feeling of life, death, and memories from the song. I used my original collage painting from 1980s (painted with pastel, charcoal, and pencil) along with my new digital painting made in 2020 to show the flow of time. I printed the artwork on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® Metallic 340g to give a sparkling yet metallic impression. I also made a final touch with acrylic paints to give the living spirit to the bird on the chair. Special thanks to my two daughters who introduced me to this beautiful song, and of course two wonderful artists who made this song!

Instagram: MD: Rental: I am a mother of 4 children and a dog, who started my art career to make myself and people around the world happy. Art is an expression of my everyday life, confirmation of the things I value, and a way to be myself. To do so, I try to understand agony and joy for them to be reinterpreted through nature. Trees, flowers, and birds are the biggest inspiration to my works as well as a comfortable chair which always suggests me a place to think. My childhood living in three different countries; South Korea, Japan, and the U.K., affected my artworks and made me more open-minded in my approaches. I use various materials in mixture. Pastels, pens, crayons, acrylic paints, and watercolours are frequently being used in my drawings and paintings on paper or canvas. Unique tools like cotton buds, toothpicks often catch my mind as well. Adapting new technologies is as important as experimenting with diverse methods. Drawings are digitally transformed to be explored in another dimension, which is usually printed on different surfaces such as archival papers, canvas, carpet, linen, and more. I also add a final touch for my digital paintings. I have been selling art merchandises designed with my artwork, and have participated in several collaborations with different companies worldwide. My artworks make me happy. I very much hope you could find your own light of happiness through my artworks. Let us make the world a better place with Arts!
