ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Paintings often surprise you, and this one was no exception. I kept having dreams of people swimming in the trees, which, of course, doesn't make sense. However, some trees like Willow trees move and flow just like water. The swimmers appeared in the tree with such ease, as if they knew where to go and what to do! I originally named it "Tree Swimmers" but then remembered the "new" wellbeing activity of forest bathing, which of course, was perfect.

Over time I have noticed that regardless of imagery, my work naturally holds feelings of melancholy, pathos, or a dreamy state. There is a sense of something ending or softening, a dying light, the end of a summers day or something slipping out of reach. I have an interest in finding imagery through a random, sometimes destructive process. I search for hints and suggestions which emerge through this often playful technique.
