About The Artwork

Initially, I had planned for this piece to reflect the actual COVID19 virus molecule that is all over the media, but it just seemed too obvious. Using a broken heart shape tells so much more about the impact of the virus: losing loved ones, shattered dreams, unable to connect with family and friends and sadness from an uncertain future. This is a heavily textured piece that features primary colors on a softer colored background with light greys, blues, cream and yellow. Different tools were used to create varied textures to create interest. The red, heart-like shape is broken open with pieces floating away...a sign of the times in 2020. Heartbreak has grey painted edges, a protective varnish finish and is ready to hang with the attached back wire.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I am originally from the Chicago area, but currently reside in the Santa Marianita area near Manta, Ecuador. I have been involved in both art and photography since high school and my style has evolved to become more and more of the abstract expressionist type over time. I paint with acrylics and my pieces often contain multiple layers of paint, textures along with transparency to create depth. Most recently, some of the colors in my work have been influenced by living at the beach with blues, aquas and golden hues. Living in Ecuador also allows me the time to continue to create new work and explore new ideas.
