ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This ended up being a larger companion piece to "I Dunno" Yet another piece that I started years ago. I had a hint of a vision and I ended up greatly overworking it before I paused and stopped beating the piece up. I had hit a creative mental block and let it sit unfinished on my bedroom wall for YEARS. A couple of months ago the direction I wanted to take it finally struck me. Like the first piece, "I Dunno", it reflects personal angst. Painting has been a form of release from the very first time I picked up a paintbrush and decided to make art at around 13 years old. Through the years I have had to remind myself of what is really important to me when creating art. Yes, I want people to enjoy my work, absolutely, but my personal satisfaction is paramount to me in deciding what to do and when it is finished. This is what happened here, I lost my way and had to rediscover what was important again for me to be able to finish it. What ended up has an unintentional quilt-like theme, which is wonderful considering that is what my wife does, and I started the work long before I ever met her. Fate? Purchase NFT at:

Greg Hausler was born in New York but raised in Kansas where he graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting. During his time at college, he developed his signature technique of using articles of clothing and other textiles instead of linen canvas for his mixed-media abstract paintings. His non-traditional use of painting media is influenced by Marcel Duchamp and street artists while his painting technique draws inspiration from Jackson Pollock and Claude Monet resulting in a style of work that is uniquely his own.
