ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The painting is dedicated to Lydia (Lilya) Vladimirovna Litvyak (18 August 1921 - 1 August 1943). She was a Soviet fighter pilot, commander of an aviation unit, Guard junior lieutenant, the most productive woman pilot of the Second World War, Hero of the Soviet Union. Died at the age of under 22 years old in a battle over the Mius front. She made her first solo flight at the age of 15. The work is painted with acrylic on a round aluminium composite metal plate, 50 cm in diameter. The paint is only applied to part of the painting, so the background remains metallic, matted aluminium. The painting has a signature of the artist, information about the technique and a hanging on the back.
