Benjamin Alden is an award winning contemporary figurative painter living and working in Norwich, Norfolk, UK. Benjamin’s work has been shown nationally, with recent exhibitions including Mall Gallery shows such as ‘ING Discerning Eye 2022’ and ‘Figurative Art Now’. In his creative practice, Benjamin explores the human condition with prominent themes of interaction, connection, and our relationship to one another. Through focusing on the subtle moments of interaction his works become snapshot compositions of subjects in which the viewer becomes an onlooker to these intimate and often ambiguous moments. In turn this allows us to consider our own connections and our relationships to these characters. Working in a range of paint mediums from Oil to Watercolour and Gouache, Benjamin’s works use an immersive use of light and closely cropped composition to invite the viewer in and speak to the universality of the human condition.
