I am a self-taught intuitive abstract artist. I mainly paint abstract acrylic paintings, but I also create mixed-media paintings and collages. One key feature of my abstract acrylic painting is making layered and textured work where I scrape off layers to reveal the layers and colors underneath. This kind of mark making is a form of expression and esthetic I like. Also, I can say that scraping is both fun and therapeutic too! It takes some stamina to do it, but it is quite satifying. Recently, I have become more involved in making collages and have introduced more types of paper into my artworks. My paintings are inspired by nature, personal experience and spirituality. The inspiration for my art can arise from memories, feelings, and connections with both the natural and spiritual world. I am always open to what emerges as I paint. I often communicate the images, thoughts or feelings that organically surface while painting whether they follow the original concept of the painting or not. While planning is part of my process, the ideas often evolve and change with what materializes at the moment.
