ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Welcome Home" is a personal reflection of my experience with emigration and the longing for home. I often imagined returning, not realizing that home had changed and could never be the same. In this work, I depict a solitary figure standing before a pastel-colored house, bathed in dreamlike light. The long shadow symbolizes feelings of nostalgia and loneliness. The soft blue and green tones create a sense of calm with an underlying tension, reflecting my conflicting emotions about returning. Through "Welcome Home," I invite viewers to consider how time and distance alter our perception of home and ask the question: can we ever truly return to the places we once called home?
