ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Autumn Night" is a vibrant image of a warm, windy autumn night. A single tree standing alone on a slope of a mountain against the background of a dramatic sky. The geometric shape remains to be filled by imagination (initially I planned to put there a silhouette of a gold tree) The orange / red flowing down the slope could represent the roots, going deep, holding the earth. Trees have been present in my drawings from the 90's. This large mono print (1 copy only ) was created in an amazing Mesa Art Center under artist / teacher David Manje. Please note: the dimensions in the main description represent the size of the paper. The print itself is 25 x 17 inches

Making art is like contemplation. Like a contemporary prayer it brings peace. It feels like writing poetry with line and color. In my past life I was a medieval monk who decorated manuscripts. Creativity for me is about improvisation, and about going deep: and exploring the subject... be it a line or color, as long as it's alive in our hands. This aliveness could be a test of artist's integrity. Once a subject is "dead" there is no reason to continue working on it, even though it may be "selling well". Currently what's alive for me is: ink, fountain pen and smooth paper, colored pencils and gold. Strong skills in anatomy drawing. Born in Poland, in 1974. Living in Arizona, USA since 2000. Making art for 24 years. Now returning, after a creative winter.
