"Eschaton" Is a contemporary woodcut with a self designed technique making use of A.I., Lasercut and classical woodcut. The image itself depicts a cathedral and cross painted by Caspar David Friedrich seemingly dissapearing and morphing into another universe. As the titel of the work describes: Eschaton ; "the final event in the divine plan; the end of the world." The work depicts the changing of our world, the destruction of our world and our religions as we know it. However instead of falling in impeding doom the work embraces this future and opens it's Monolithic gates to a new universe. Unscathed of the human race. Setting the cross point for my other works. My name is Elia Vanderheyden I'm a Contemporary woodcut artist studying at the Royal Academy for Fine Arts Antwerp. My work evolves around the use of traditional woodcut, laser-cutting techniques and the use of artificial intelligence. These are tools that can be manipulated to create the landscapes by which the goal is to take the viewer into another world of the Sublime and inner feelings of my being.
