ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Faith is a contemporary interpretation of the cross, one of the oldest human symbols. It’s about being open, arms outstretched, embracing life and the beauty of the natural world. The cross is yellow, bright and light. Bubbles of energy foam from the edges. Diagonal waves dynamically define the geometric figure and surrounding space. Printed in Melbourne Australia on 310gsm acid free fine art paper using archival pigmented inks. Each print is titled and signed by the artist and includes a certificate of authenticity outlining the edition number.

My artwork is imagined and created using visual skills and the computer, a well establish tool now used in many creative professions including architecture and industrial design. The electronic pencil and coloured brush I use are very similar to traditional artists tools. To say the work is ‘generated’ by the computer is to misunderstand the whole creative process. In fact all a computer generates are ‘0s’ and ‘1s’. To illustrate, when you are writing a letter, a short story or a poem using the computer, does the computer ‘generate’ the writing for you? Who considers what to say and how to say it? The writer does. And the process is always a challenge. The final images, printed using an archival inkjet printer, are not reproductions. They are all original limited edition prints on Fine Art paper. And they are printed in Melbourne Australia by master printer Kim Stonehouse.
