About The Artwork
In 1981 I had the privilege of being part of a printmaking studio centered at what was the California State University Hayward ( now University of the East Bay). We were all studying printmaking with the master Kenji Nanao. He was a marvelous professor and inspirational artist. I was inspired to make this edition of lithograph prints by the beauty of my models and on a deeper level the struggle for greater sexual freedom and equality.

I work in Yosemite National Park as a tour guide. I have worked in Yosemite for over 30 years. My artwork is inextricably tied to my Yosemite Geography and my ecological message. I am a plein air painter, print maker, and photographer. I also write and illustrate my own books. I am the author of "A Brief Instruction in Christian Religion," (A translation of Faustus Socinus), "The Chronicles of the Field Mouse Timothy," (Corn,Tomato,Wheat, Cotton, Sweet Potatoes, Rice Paddy, Pond Mouse and Yosemite), "Nature Vision" (Poems), and I have illustrated the short stories of my late daughter Sandra Fontana "Cereal at Midnight." I love nature and the wilderness. I am a proponent of the global national parks movement.
