Rita Ford-Jones

Painting in oil, watercolor, drawing in pin and ink, and taking pictures of where I travel,
are some of my favorite things to do.  I started studing art as a freshmen at Brawley
Union High School, in California. I was born in Buena Park, California in 1937.

I graduated from Imperial Valley Junior College, in El Centro, California, in 1958. 
Married fellow classmate, Jerry Jones that same summer.  We have four sons,
fourteen grand children and five great grand children.

Teachers I have studied under, must begin with Mrs. Barbara J e r n i gan, in High
school.  Other teachers in work shops and night classes, were a part of my life after
marriage, in Calif. and Arizona where we lived for four years.  I do not remember their
names.  At Indiana University Southeast, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree, 
my teachers were Jonas Howard, Brian Jones, Susan Mathias, and John Gunther.

After winning many awards in Intaglio etchings; I was invited to study at several different
Printmaking programs as a graduate student. One visiting professor was Rudy Posati
from Indiana University, and he encouraged me to continue my studies and earn my
