Sylvia De Swaan

I'm a Romanian born photographer who immigrated to the United States at age ten. I have lived and worked in Mexico Europe and the United States.

My photographs are about a range of themes that include personal history, individual and collective memory and identity, the state of the world and the neighborhood where I live. Im interested in the construction of narrative and how meaning is created through juxtaposition and editing.

My work has been exhibited and published in the United States, Mexico, Holland, Germany, UK, Russia, Romania and Slovenia
