To me, to paint is to converse with colour and material, to put and reput, erase, scratch in order to catch a glimpse of a place, a landscape, an atmosphere, to be lazy, to let me invade, to find emotion.

After a childhood already punctuated by periods of drawing, I began painting in the 80s. In the various workshops I attended, I tried all the classic techniques from pastel to charcoal, including oil and watercolour. Through contact with teachers and other artists, I moved to define a personal style, which resonated with my free and impulsive personality. The strength of my painting is based on simplicity and reserve. Like a tightrope walker on a highwire, I reject the superfluous to better touch the truth of things.
I paint using knives and spatulas, allowing me to press more or less heavily on the background, or remove and add layers. I use oil paints for canvas and acrylics for paper. My frank gestures mark my work with scratches and scrapes. In this way I let the forgotten colours under the layers reappear. My abstract landscapes are also distinguished by their roughness. Using material as a mineral texture, I transcribe the sensations when in contact with reality.
