Returning to the Roots Speaking of returning to the roots, we involuntarily awaken in our subconsciousness those pagan images that are associated with deep antiquity and the existence of primeval man, be it a Slavic spring effigy made of hay and personifying the spirit of the rebirth of nature and fertility, or the roots of a mandrake revived in mythological fantasy, revered both on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and in the Middle Kingdom. The ‘roots’ of polarised civilisations, the East and the West, are bizarrely intertwined with one another in this spring floral composition: Lilac and violet colours refer us to nearing symbols of divinity and nobility in China and symbols of sacred knowledge and divine spirituality in Christian cultures. My art is related to photography and plants. I am attracted by the lost ability to understand the Language of Flowers. I mostly begin my projects with flower semiotics, considering flowers as a social media through which people could communicate and talk about their emotions and feelings to each other. At one point, I became interested in the variety and definition of each flower. Taking into account all the aspects of my projects related to the history of culture of Asian and European countries, I turned my artworks into a mixture of meanings and a search for symbols also grounded in archives and paintings. By analysing the semiotics of flowers from all over the world, I have managed to combine different cultures. By giving a meaning to spaces, I strive to provoke a viewer's interest and revive the lost language through performance, installations, photographs and videos.
