Queen Elizabeth II visits Wiesbaden, Germany May 20, 1965. There I was (there I was), with my simple box camera to record the event as her Mercedes limousine rolled by right in front of me. I was a lucky teenager--I went to the races at Nürburgring a week later. Reimagined and printed in 2022. I still have the original negative, and the film roll number still intact suggested my own version of the facts. I have self-published a couple of photo books, and this image will likely appear in my in-progress next book--it stoops to comedy in places. An archival pigment print on Epson Legacy Platine, a paper that emulates the look of a traditional darkroom print. The image itself is B&W, but the film negative border and the drugstore processing tag retain their subtle color. The print size is 8"x10" with image size approximately 3"x6 3/4". The caption is hand written in archival black ink, and there will be variations in my penmanship. Title at top: "The Queen visits Wiesbaden, 1965" with a caption below: "Her Majesty pretends to not see me, I pretend to have more film in my camera" Edition #1 of 10 + 2 A/P. A certificate of authenticity is provided

I have worked most of my professional life in the movies. That experience has left me with an instinct toward a narrative in my photos. Not always as a straightforward story, but at least as a structure to organize pieces of an image to work together. I look to elevate the mundane in my work, to create an image that rewards repeated visits. Much of my work is a continuing portrait of Los Angeles. I moved to Los Angeles as a young man to go to UCLA Film School, and it turned into a lifelong adventure. I have collected some in my self-published book “Small Pieces of Los Angeles briefly Illuminated”.
