About The Artwork
This is a story of dreams that come true. As I remember it, A-Sol, is a little girl - a daughter of a fisherman, who gives her a toy boat with scarlet sails, telling her that her prince charming will one day arrive from the sea in a real boat with scarlet sails. One day a young man arrives to the village and falls in love with this girl, but everyone warns him that he has no chance of winning her heart since she is waiting for the one who will arrive from the sea in a boat with scarlet sails . So he sets out again from the village, to learn the trade of a sailor, become a captain and finally build himself a majestic boat with scarlet sails. He returns to the village by sea and A-Sol then recognizes him as the one she was always waiting for.

I am a practicing architect, and now looking back at some of the earlier studies that shaped my understanding of space, the movement of bodies in space, and my later interest in contemporary dance. I was born in Moscow and came to Canada when I was ten. I think I saw the world from a different side which made me more attentive to it. I enjoyed drawing and working as a theatre make-up artist - drawing directly on the body and transforming it. Twenty years later, I moved again, this time to London, England. I continued working in architecture and in parallel discovered the beauty of dance as a medium of composing form and capturing the fragility of the body. Another ten years later I moved again to Canada. I have always felt that time moves along an expanding spiral.
