The upper half of this strong and expressive painting is dominated by light colours, creating a semi-circle around the figure of mother that bended above her child. The woman’s protective posture seems to glow with parental love and care. The baby is depicted in unnaturally white colour, symbolising purity and innocence. Pink air balloon in the child’s hand (Zakhar likes to use this symbol in his artworks) reminds us of childhood dreams and fantasies. Contrasting, predominantly dark foreground is the reality of surrounding world that is full of danger and unpleasant events. Nevertheless, this world is also filled with different bright and interesting colours for the child to discover and to learn… This painting will be shipped rolled in a tube because of its large size. Rolled artworks can easily be re-stretched. Certificate of Authenticity is included.

Art, to me, is a profound exploration of the world that surrounds us - a journey of discovery, experience, and self-understanding. It is a medium through which I unravel the essence of things - their colors, forms, and the interplay between them. I believe in the power of simplicity, in the art of removing the excess and uncovering the necessary, much like a sculptor chisels away at stone. In my paintings, I strive to distill forms to their purest essence, reaching a point where nothing else can be removed without sacrificing meaning. The "necessary" elements, as I perceive them, remain, serving as conduits for my impressions and self-reflections on the subject at hand. My aim is not to depict something specific but rather to transfer the emotions and thoughts evoked by the object onto the canvas. I seek artistic forms that can boldly and vividly capture the essence of these feelings, rather than mere visual representation. In this pursuit, my work often exists on the precipice between figurative and abstract art - place where emotions take precedence over strict visual interpretation. Through my art, I invite viewers to embark on their own contemplative journeys, to interpret the subtleties and engage with the interplay of emotions and forms. Each brushstroke carries the weight of my perceptions, inviting you to join me in this exploration of the human experience. zakhar@klossart.com
