I am an artist but in my spare time I used to transform into a sensual mannequin and sell vintage clothes on eBay. While researching my competitors I came across Natalja - another eBay seller of vintage negligee. Working like a detective I discovered that Natalja, a used-to-be Lithuanian escort, was now the wife of a rich American estate magnate from Illinois. Without her knowledge over the period of 7 years I collected close to 22000 internet pics from her website. A tiny selection of Natalja’s sensual self-portraits became the photo-installation NATALJA UP-CLOSE which was 1st shown at BONNESUITS’ Gallery De Schans (Amsterdam 2022) and is currently on show at the WiHH What Is Happening Here Gallery in Amstedam. The series is a strict selection of just 33 stolen close-ups of Natalja & myself. Sold as a 33-photo installation. Each framed A2 size photo is also available for purchase separately. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + Installation NATALJA UP-CLOSE consists of 33 vertical A2 size digital prints arranged in 3 rows x 11 columns. Each print is 42 x 59,4 cm or 16,5 x 23,4 inches. The distance between each photo is site-specific and can be adjusted. The installation is meant hung up on a large or elongated wall with the minimum dimenions of 3x7m or 10x23ft - please see exhibit pictures - more images will be added shortly. The prints are framed in museum quality anti-reflective acrylite glass (making them lighter than usual and suitable to hang up even on difficult surfaces). They have a strong hanging rope system at the back which is completely invisible on the front. Hanging the installation requires precision. NOTE: The images are in no sense obsene and wouldn’t look out of place on a wall of a daring office or ad-agency. NATALJA UP-CLOSE is a multi-photo installation and is meant that way however individual photos can be ordered separately. Please contact me for further details.

WHO AM I… Born in Poland (1972) for the past half of my life I have been living and making art in the Netherlands. I am the winner of Holland's most prestigious art prize the Prix De Rome (book LISTEN®). My visual language or IMAGE POETRY sprouted from the collision of my communist background with the Western world-view. Studying at the Rietveld Academy & at Goldsmiths College helped further develop my ART TOOLS. WHAT I DO… My ART is BOOKS & PROJECTS which are full of inter-cultural quotes. I film, draw & photograph. I observe, document, collect, translate, transform & Photoshop. I categorize, organize & archive what I come across. What I can’t find I make myself. I dress-up, or clothe others. I stop objects in motion or go-with-the(ir)-flow. I collide film with (stop-motion) animation. I reinvent old techniques to fit my ideas (mutoscope). I form new concepts or conceptualise familiar images & stories. All of this ends up in my books, small & large, in short movies, animations & installations.
