Uganda
Kashamba Ian is a East African Ugandan young contemporary visual artist. Born on 2nd,February,1996 to a humble Christian family of Mr. and Mrs. Ahimbisibwe Arthur and Mercy, from a small town of Ruharo, a sub-county in Kumukuzi division from Mbarara District. Born from a creative mother who is a wedding decorator and designer, young Ian was easily introduced to the world of art, since one of his parents was inspiration to him. By the encouragement of his mother, he followed his passion starting from a kindergarten school called Mbarara Junior, where his drawing skills emerged at that stage. He attended his primary education from Mbarara Preparatory school, where he was encouraged by a number of teachers to follow is dream, where he later continued to Mbarara high school and Valley college for his secondary level. At Mbarara high school, he took art and other related art subjects like woodwork in carpentry, metalwork courses right from senior one. After his secondary school, he joined Bishop Stuart university for a degree in industrial art, which he later dropped for a diploma art course in an art school called Nagenda International art Academy on Kampala- Entebbe road from a small town called Namulanda. After two years at the art school, he attained a diploma certificate in art and design in 2020. He has exhibited at the Seyna Art Gallery, two times in a group exhibition dubbed, "head and heart, abstraction". He was also one of the Ugandan local artist listed by an American sculptor called Erik Blome in partnership the American Embassy in Uganda to create a mural painting in small town called Kalerwe in Kampala. Kashamba Ian is a full time visual artist that applies his skills in painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture. He works and lives in Namulanda, along Entebbe road. I'm interested in spiritual, physical and mental aesthetics and sometimes how art relates to our way of living. Spiritualism is one of the major things that intrigues me the most and i like merging it with themes like racism, suffering, power, religion, politics and many others. I also express my hopes, desires and dreams on the human experience in my work. My style has been influenced largely by expressionism, surrealism, surreal expressionism, realism ,pop art and minimalism.
