The Estrogen Tax Series is part of the artist's exploration of social rules towards women that have a parallel with the rules and methodologies of taxation. She coined the term to describe the compulsory social charges levied on women based on their reproductive eligibility. Scallop shells frequently show up frequently in both her paintings and sculptures. A variation of the Chi Rho (in antiquity it was used as a symbol in both war and religion) appears in her work as an x superimposed on a variety of consonants, most frequently the P and F. She uses pieces of silk in her paintings because the light hits in it such a way that it provides a pop of color. The F, in reverse, is cut out and backed with cerise silk. In the latest iteration of the image of the winged face inspired by a stone carving on the grounds of Versailles, the balance has shifted with the removal of one wing.

Terrell Lozada (b. 1962) is an American painter and sculptor living in Paris. She uses imagery and language to create works that explore the metaphysics of gender and power in contemporary society. Her work represents an internal, emotional world through objects subjected to unreliable or suspended gravity. Her aesthetic fulcrum is the late 18th century, particularly as it relates to French architecture. She works in a wide variety of media including watercolor, oil on panel, cast bronze, etchings and carved wood. She is currently exploring tin-glazed terracotta (faïence stannifère) to combine color and form.
