Indian Mother and Child Print

Inspired by the great old Indian master painters, this art piece is a combination of contemporary and traditional art of Bengal, India and is part of my "Indian Village Women" series. I have lived in a small village in my childhood, and the women folk there, their way of living, their love and their strength have inspired many of my paintings. This art work depicts a mother’s love and hope for a better future for her child, which we can also symbolize with the lit diya, or candle in the artwork. The diya is full of warmth and brightness just like the village mother's love and hope.
