In 2007 I began to document the life expectancy, just 42 years, experienced by women living Freetown in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Freetown is the official twin (sister) city to my birthplace of Hull in the United Kingdom. This work has toured internationally as an exhibition including the Royal Commonwealth Society in London, the International Slavery Museum in Liverpool and WISE (Wilberforce Institute for the Study of Slavery and Emancipation) University of Hull. Im parallel I set up Women with Cameras, to assist women in Sierra Leone to become photographers in their own right, to earn much-needed incomes, for creative expression and to advocate for change on issues which affect them.
