collage and color now

Since the early modern era, collage has been a strategy both radical and practical. Mixing high and low, figuration and abstraction, depth and flatness, collage is more relevant than ever in the digital age. For this collection, I found examples in nearly every media category. Disparate in approach and message, these examples share a particular "color way" I've been seeing a lot lately. I think this signals the eclipse of Kodachrome and Technicolor by new dye sets, manufactured for inkjet printers and well suited to LED backlit display. This palette quotes the past (from vintage B&W to 80s neon) but defines the present.
