Dmitry Gretsky is a fantastic realist. Figurative art, group portraits, muli-figure compositions together with the genre of Paraphrase comprises the sphere of Dmitry Gretsky artistic interests. Conventionally trained in St. Petersburg, his tremendous versatility in choice of media and the obvious mastery of numerous complex techniques illustrate a determination to excel.
In 1989 Dmitry graduated from the College of Art named after N.Rerikh and in 1995 graduated from the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg State Academy of Painting. Gretsky lives and works in Toronto, Ontario since 1999. Recipient of numerous awards including Kandinsky Prize Long list Nominee 2010 and 2009, Sobey Art Award Nominee 2010, and Grant from the Pollok-Kresner Foundation 1998. Gretsky's art works was sold at auctions such as Shapiro 2008, MacDougall 2007, Sotheby's 2001, ArtLink@Sotheby's 2001 and represented in the permanent museum's collections in Russia and US as well as numerous private collections in Canada.
