Être-To be

Initially this collection was called 'Burgeon' , the bursting through of new life, energy and potential, however on viewing the whole much larger collection I realised something else. The character of the investigation lay not simply in the fresh new emerging shoots breaking forth from their seed pods. This was something more holistic . Not only seed pods, shoots, roots and the emergence of life are here ; transformation , metamorphosis , decay and degeneration are manifest also. Être - To be in French, is my chosen title as every living thing contains elements of reproduction, life and decay . We emerge ,and eventually return the earth. Inspired by my French rural garden and its incredible circle of life.
