About Sarah Paolantonacci
Artist : Sarahoui : Fine Art Painter.
2012 : ADAGP n°1085861
Sarah Paolantonacci, who goes by the name of « Sarahoui », was born in 1961 and lives in Paris.
She became a full-time painter in 2007 and has already garnered several awards, among which “French Creative Contemporary Artist” awarded in 2009 by the National Federation Painters and Sculptors of France and in 2010 took Fine Art Prize at the International Grand Prix Painting competition in Kobe, Japan.
Her exploration of techniques have enabled her to find her own style, and make it possible to pick out several major phases of her abstract art, each one quite set apart from the other. You get the feeling of how the artist has evolved, matured and yet is still finding her way.
Sarahoui makes her painting the hand-maiden of her own self-discovery. Little by little she is reaching her ultimate objective and today her output is of a highly professional order.
Her materials and the effects she achieves with them, using acrylics, or as the mood takes her, other materials, are applied with a knife or else a roller, and allow new combinations of colours that she obtains by endlessly cross-crossing lines. The canvas is often linen or cotton from the outset giving a strong feeling of substance so that one world can be superimposed on another.
Sarahoui show an impressive use of colour. Her colour world is bright and bathed in light even when her ultimate aim is to hide it or to protect it as though there where some symbolic barrier or mesh whose darker coloring is there to hold the eye at bat. Despite that, there is always a way in.
Over time and through her different changes of style, Sarahoui always fills her canvases fully. It is as if her inner being, her subconscious where in full flood, freely expressing her emotions, indeed every possible emotion. This artist’s painting well up from deep inside her. You can easily imagine how much she gives of herself, her total commitment to expressing that which we have the pleasure of discovering in her work.
Genuine and passionate, all of a piece in pursuit of her ultimate goal, she is a perfectionist in the best sense of the world. Even in the way she handles the abstract, and the freedom with which she expresses her emotions, she constantly strives for excellence in rending her colours and in the shape and structure of her work. From a soft, more “rounded” period which brings to mind Kandinsky, she moves quickly to more dazzling and shinning work which in its colours, brushstrokes and energy has more than a nod in the direction of that great artist, Pollock.
