About Silvana Abram
“in a world crowed of everything I prefer the mental synthesis.” SA. Now, let me accompany you towards the sense and feeling of my art-making, through the illustrated story of my collections. EXPERIMENTAL WORKS | PSC. The newest collection shows a synthesis of my artistic production: every work is expressed through a linguistic connection among paint, scraps of original Murano glass sculpture* and cut, folded and sewn canvas**. September, 7th, 2014. POOR ART OF LUXURY|SCRAPS OF ORIGINAL MURANOGLASS. "poetry is in the gesture of picking up scraps”. SA. After a Glass fusing course - in April 2014 at Abate Zanetti Glass School of Murano and following my ecologic vision, I invented and developed an idea and a way to recycle the original Murano glass, to create new sculptures. According to my projects, I pick out and buy pieces of original Murano glass created in furnace and discarted during the making by the Murano Glass Master Mr. Giancarlo Signoretto and his team; then I assemble these pieces and fuse them by the glass fusing mode, in Abate Zanetti School’s laboratory. I named these sculptures "Scraps of original Murano glass" and this way to empathize with recycled glass "Poor art of luxury". Still in Spring 2014, some pieces of "Scraps" have been sketched in the "Manifest of Poor art of luxury". EXPERIMENTAL WORKS | 3D paintings/sculptures. ...Applying the maximum degree of freedom in the selection of the material and in the interventions over the physical body of my works: as in the case of canvases being cut, folded and sewn, which are creating a new form of 3D painting/sculptures to wall. These cut, folded and sewn canvas are showing "a reality of life to repair or repaired" with our will and intervention. Since, every day we have to remedy, to cure, to renew the human relationship, personal and social. THE WORD IS CONCEPT. Works that originate from an inner reflection on the relationship between words and thoughts-through a key influence of contemporary times ; and highlight the call for reflecting on the crisis of language in the digital era, on the predicament of critical thought and the origins of this Western decadence including economic factors. All of this is dealt from an alternative perspective. I reserve deep attention, in the literary, philosophical and aesthetic sense, to the words about the Feminine and women in the contemporary world, because “I'm watching the world with the eyes of a woman”.
