About Nikola Savic
Belgrade, Serbia, 19.Feb.1973, works and lives in London since 1998.Nikola Savic has his paintings in the collections of Salon Vert London; The Bank of America, London; The American Embassy, Belgrade, Serbia; Dr Takashige Shimizu, Japan; European Diamonds Plc, London; MOCA Belgrade; Private Collections USA,Russia,Japan,Dubai and Europe.Nikola Savic explores the colour and form in his paintings in a Neo Formalist way, where the colour is super flat but strongly led by hard edged and reconstructed mechanical sort of forms. His forms are three dimensional objects which usualy have a kind of float effect of spaced out machine parts. His paintings are recaling the colour field and suprematist visions where viewer gets overwhelmed by the sence and presence of colour. This is NEW CODE of abstract order where square and monochrome elements, under speed of everyday (imminent, must have)life are turning into biomorphic shapes of compleate self sufficient and non chierarchial nature. However in Nikola Savic's paintings viewer is invited to attend new and different kind of space or journey. It is a libareted path, which leads us to the sublime roots of abstract painting. His space is sort of cyber/suprematist space or science fiction space in constant coming yet very minimal and endless. His forms are reminesent of machines, style icon products, cars yet compleatly reconstructed so that we question their similarity to the real objects. Also we question then their imporance and value. From this point of view, the viewer can see something very familiar in these objects yet very quickly the viewer is aware that any meaning or value they are remisent of is replaced by the sheer vision and joy of coulour.
