The soap, a symbol of purity and innocence, contrasts with the sensual nature of the mouth, creating a tension between traditional expectations of women and their own sexuality. The use of soap also recalls the mythological figure Penelope, who maintained her purity while waiting for Odysseus. The series pays homage to art history, particularly the works of Man Ray and Marcel Duchamp, who also used everyday objects in their works. The depth psychological aspects of the work invite reflection on the duality of female identity, which is both delicate and strong, both pure and sensual.

The focus of ARTURUTRA is mouths. Yet these fragmented bodies do not conform to classical portraits. They often resemble staged still lifes. The works are characterized by a narrative ambiguity. The viewer sees and must fill in the missing elements themselves. Perhaps they view with the eyes constantly absent in the works. Then, the depicted mouths speak with the inner voice of the observer.
