SAINT ANTHONY CATHOLIC CHURCH (CHURCH OF SANTO ANTÓNIO DA POLANA), MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE The Church of Saint Anthony of Polana is a religious building located in the city of Maputo. This Franciscan church, an emblematic building of modernist architecture, was designed by the portuguese architect Nuno Cavreiro Lopes. The Church of Saint Anthony of Polana was built in 1962 and restored in 1992. The building has the shape of an inverted flower and is popularly known as the “lemon squeezer”. In the dome of the building, of concrete and with conical shape, windows with colorful crystals also allow the entrance of light. It's a tourist attraction site due to the unique architecture shape.
