Gemma Marmalade

Gemma Marmalade (born Essex, UK, 1979) is an emerging, contemporary
interdisciplinary artist based in Cambridge and London.
Animals and humanity are the pervasive subjects within her work, straddling notions of retrospection with contemporary politics. Her choice of medium is conceptually led, most commonly manifesting in video, photography,
installation and performance. Surrealism and the absurd is a key gesture by
which wit and pathos can respond to ponderous subject matter. Gemma
produces complex and multi-layered works that simultaneously amuse and
challenge the viewer.
Gemma graduated from an MA in Photography at the London College of
Communication in 2011 with Distinction and a series of professional accolades.
