I have an interest in Photography and photographic processes and attempt to explore what a photograph can be; to expand the concepts and conventions within the tradition of its craft. My practice has post-conceptual foundations in that the image aesthetic is a secondary condition to their conception and process. Starting with source imagery my photographs are the result of experimentation and investigation, a kind of abstracted archeology that excavates the intricacies and mechanics of an image, and amplifies them in a state of transformation and distortion. Intrigued by the world we occupy I study and recapture imagery from it in my digital darkroom, examining them closely to extract marks, pattern and texture, and over work with layers and filters, printing and recapturing to find something serendipitous. I typically produce multiple variations and I like to think of these Photographs in line with our ultra processed culture and the conditioning of abstract thought. These Photographs adopt methods from painting, dancing around and between disciplines and exist within the expanded limits of Photography with an anarchic presence.
