Yared Nigussu

Originally from Ethiopia, Yared now lives in Vancouver and shows his work widely, from the west coast all the way to Europe. He studied at the Addis Ababa School of Fine Arts, majoring in Painting before moving to France for 3 years, and is celebrated internationally for his large-scale, expressive work.

He has been described as having 'energetic brushstrokes and a flamboyant use of colour' but the secret to his beautiful canvases is a sharp use of perspective and form, capturing the essence of his subject and then elaborating the visual aspects of imagination, reflection and momentary perfection.
