Amanda's paintings and drawings explore abstraction through a continuous process of experimentation and intuitive mark making.
Her process begins with quick, intuitive sketches often inspired by natural forms; These form the source material from which the rest of her work stems. She then isolate areas of interest and starts to refine the images, bringing in more intentional compositional elements and coherence, exploring the potential for mark making and paint handling.
'In my work I hope to convey a sense of playfulness, vitality, energy and movement along with a sense of depth and perspective. I like the challenge of doing so using abstraction and imagination, not relying too much on things that physically exist. The mind always tries to 'make sense' of abstract images therefor the forms and compositions can spark my own and the viewers imagination, taking you on a unique visual journey and creating personal narratives in your mind.
