About The Artwork
This art work is inspired by Turner's famous painting, The Slave Ship. The collage is made up of banal images taken from glossy magazines but add up to this dramatic scene of a stormy sea in which people have been thrown overboard by the slave trader due to the news of the loss of their sale value. This work makes up aware of how little has changed in the world of capitalist values. The collage is composed so as to resemble the painting closely despite it being made up of shredded bits of paper.
