My experience with photographing surf competitions at Huntington Beach has allowed me to witness the best surfers in the world at the peak of their talents. This art is derived from a photo I took of Stephanie Gilmore the year she won the Huntington Beach surf championship I want the viewer to see and feel the experience of what a surfer might feel and experience as they compete I chose to use photography and digital painting because it allowed me to control the chaos of imagery, work in layers and position it in ways that are not possible in other mediums

Lon is an artist in his soul and through every cell of his being, so being creative is the same thing to him as breathing. In the 80’s and 90’s Lon worked as an Art Director, Creative Director and Illustrator where he helped launch many TV programs and Motion Pictures. During this time Lon was introduced to creating art and design on the computer. He was soon one of a handful of artists working digitally in his native Los Angeles winning awards and being featured in various magazines. After 35 years Lon has mastered both traditional and digital work. In the 2000s Lon worked as the head of the worldwide marketing art department for Warner Bros. His group launched shows like “Ellen”, “Will & Grace”, “West Wing” and “Judge Judy” and many others. In addition, Lon illustrated children’s and “How-to” books demonstrating his command of digital and traditional methods of creating artwork, including Globe Pequot Press’s successful book, “Treehouses” which he wrote, illustrated and photographed. Over the past couple years Lon’s work has been shown in traditional galleries as well as online shows. His last solo exhibition was at Blue Moon Gallery in San Miguel De Allende from July to August 2022. His work is also part of, “The Guardian of Dreams” exhibition in the M.A.D.S. gallery in Milan, Italy in late October Fuerteventura gallery in The Canary Islands and Barcelona in December. In February 2023 he will be featuring his work at the BADA Mexico show in Mexico City Lon has consistently been interviewed by several magazines including Voyage LA, Biafarin, Observica, Artonish, Shout Out LA and Attencion San Miguel. Lon doesn’t confine himself to one style of work Although there may not always be material similarities between the different projects he’s created, they are linked by recurring formal concerns and through the subject matter. The subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the forms of the work. Each project often consists of multiple works, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings.
