Sabine Israel is an artist and illustrator living in Berlin. Born and raised in Mecklenburg, she received a Heiligendamm Drawing scholarship, studied Art at Berlin Weissensee, at the college for Graphics and Book-art in Leipzig as well as the University of Arts in Berlin. She studied a few semesters at professor Fritz Weigle (F.W. Bernstein). Her work has been included in various exhibitions in Europe. She develops her portraits with her own perspective on life, empathy and identity but also brings her own unique flair to landscapes, abstracts and objects of everyday life. Besides her digital work she also creates originals on canvas or paper. "In my opinion analog drawing is more spontaneous and alive. Little coincidences and certain imperfections are a big part of what makes the process more interesting for me." Her style combines the line drawing with bold areas of colour from watercolor, ink and acrylic using different paper. Her style is equally influenced by realism and abstract. She does not like to be restricted by a specific style and likes to bring a fresh perspective to each new drawing sheet. ‘A combination of chaos and order can be found in all of my pictures. There is always something incomplete or imperfect. That's the thing that fascinates me.’
