About The Artwork

"Operatic Street Light" is the painterly realisation of the main element from the art video "CONJUNCTION - He Is Way Out There." It can be seen on the artists website: www.iljamlosch.de/conjunction/ the street lights are appearing at the times: 16:10 + 25:40 "CONJUNCTION" is a collaboration between Ilja Mlosch and the Catalan composer Oriol Cruixent. Ilja Mlosch has developed his own symbolic language for this: Operatic street lights, which on the one hand serve as support like monumental anchors and on the other, like telescopes, make contact with cosmic realities. They allow us to perceive the rhythms of transcendence: to look God in the eye! He is way out there. The streetlight is a transferred photographic image on plaster, kept on the canvas. Pigments, craquelure, patina is fixed with a mineral binder. The glossy surface on the painting gives depth and elegance. The work is signed on the reverse.

„Serenity gives life to transformation. Through simplification, the spirit becomes still and can reach new depths. Especially an acetone transfer technique to combine photographic elements on his surfaces, which resemble old walls with patina. His surfaces provide screens for projection. His pieces often contain craquelure and hand-drawn elements. ##### By weakening the realistic elements and rendering the abstract areas more concrete he brings the two into a unity that opens the spirit. ##### Ilja Mlosch is inspired by Caspar David Friedrich (atmosphere and symbolism), Karl Blossfeldt (photorealism), Fernando Zóbel (composition), Street-Art (material und technique) ##### His works are in private collections in New York, the Vatikan, Senegal, Spain, Irland, Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Germany. ##### „My work is a mixing, overpainting, waiting, finding the point, reducing, cutting everything off, starting new, making it simpler, reducing more and more, …“
