About The Artwork

The painting-installation: >The School Class< contains 9 paintings acrylic on canvas, 8 school chairs, 1 school desk and a volume of 12 books. One painting shows the split head of a teacher, split into face and book, in the background a greenly blackboard with traces of chalk. This dominating painting is posed on a desk, the teacher confronts the school class. The painting of the teacher is backed by two columns of books (2x5 books) of an encyclopedia. The columns form the spine of the teacher. The class room is the stage, where education performs. In opposite to the teachers head there is the school class. There are eight paintings posed on school chairs. Eight paintings posed in two rows show pairs of class mates. First I painted one pair of class mates fixed to the school table, that forms with the twosome figures a rigid scheme. In the postmodern human memory there exists the archetype of the pair of class mates. Everybody has been the left one or the right one of the twosome archetype. A phenomenal burn-in,that I wanted to transport onto a painting. When I had painted the first pair of class mates, I had to do one after another. I created individual twosomes from the scheme. See more on: www.mamu-kunst.de and on http://creative.arte.tv/de/space/MAMU/message/15986/MAMU_me_voila/ The first idea was to paint the pair of class mates, the second idea was to do the teacher's head split into the present realty of his work with pupils and into his intellectual interests. Finally the third idea was to pose the paintings onto the school furniture. To suggest the smell of wet chalk, to suggest the prosaic amosphere of a class room with the smell of drill. We passed the social institution school, and the social institution school passed us. MAMU

Painter and performance artist. Long time ago I absolved the Staatliche Hochschule fuer Bildende Kuenste Hamburg. MAMU derives from the abbreviation for Malende Mutter. After having left his studies in Vienna with a bachelor of economics and film my son Niels is living with his great love Trin Liz in Stockholm. My daughter Mira Xenia had got a stipendium for arthistory and history at Princeton and at Harvard University, and she graduated at Harvard. At the present time she is living with her husband Paul Schwerda at Edinburgh. When I was young I went alone to the Ivory Coast in Africa. The musician El Maistro Laba Sosseh, Superstar de Dacar, travelled with me along the African States. The African spirit inspired my painting style. I produced a painting installation: In the name of the law. I thougt about tribal judges doing their ceremonial in the African forest and about our European institutions in the name of the law and about church ceremonials. This is all the same. You have to believe in it or you do not believe in it. Caused by the way of life of my husband the bibliosoph and bookculterer Guenther Rossipaul I have been in court again and again. Several times I had to pay our debts with my paintings. --- In July 18th my husband left this world. www.mamu-kunst.de mamuart@web.de MAMU Read more on my websites www.mamu-kunst.de http://creative.arte.tv/users/MAMU/
