"Ebony Mirage" is a deeply personal work, shaped by the convergence of continents and cultures that define my life. Born in Madrid, I have spent the past 21 years in the Canary Islands—a place of profound significance, where Europe meets Africa. This unique location, the southernmost point of Europe, offers the comforts of European life while pulsating with the raw, unfiltered energy of the African continent. This duality fuels my inspiration. My work often honors the beauty, sensuality, and strength of the people who embody the spirit of Africa on these islands. Black, the color that absorbs the most light, symbolizes the immense physical, emotional, and spiritual power of the local population. On a personal level, this piece represents a symbolic return to origins—a journey back to life’s source, a path toward healing, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Through this artwork, I hope to convey my deep connection to African beauty and spark reflection on coexistence, peace, and unity. This piece transcends borders, inviting viewers to explore the deeper currents of our shared humanity. I chose an abstract, experimental style, merging photography with bold, raw black brushstrokes. For me, black embodies the infinite transformative power of the human spirit and the boundless potential for change within us all.
