Smaro is a Greek artist, based in Thessaloniki, where she graduated from School of Fine Arts in Aristoteles University. During her studies in School of Fine Arts she experimented on various techniques, she researched art movements and artists that led her focus on human-centered subjects, influenced by Abstract expressionists, she adopted action-painting (automatism) methods and Realism principles. Smaro showed her work on group exhibitions during her university studies and graduated with a solo exhibition of large-scaled abstract paintings, performing entirely action-painting, aiming to express the flow of time. On December of 2019 she threw her first solo exhibition exclusively with portraits. Since her graduation she worked and keep working as an Arts professor in both Elementary and High Schools. Parallel to teaching, she started master studies and graduated from International Hellenic University of Thessaloniki. Her MSc was on Strategic Product Design with major on Creativity & Design. The impulse that led her to industrial design major was the fact that she wanted to adjust arts in daily objects. She occupied herself around graphic design and 3D modelling preparing portfolios with proposals regarding motorcycle design and its aftermarket equipment, as well as furniture design. She graduated her MSc filing a thesis on folding furniture design to production research. She keeps designing furniture pieces but her major remains on classic painting. Inspiration, color palettes and forms derive from nature in any short of art expression.
