ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The title of this exhibition 'La casa azul' is a hashtag, through which I found pictures on Instagram of tourists visiting Frida’s Kahlo’s house. My references are images itself: whether they are from the history of art, Instagram, fashion magazines or contemporary artists. I’m inspired by images that I come across in my life. After drawing a sketch in my art notebook, my friends or family memebers are helping me with bringing it to live by posing. In that way, these images are saying more about my life than what the original references could be. La casa azul is a space in which I can illustrate my own stories.
