Ramiro Alfonso Blanco Redondo, nació en el municipio del Carmen de Bolívar, Colombia el 16 de Febrero de 1950. Creando en sus lienzos un hábil juego de movimientos y volúmenes de clara estirpe cinética, que irradia un inquietante halo metafísico de figuras que miran más allá de lo real, Ramiro Blanco ha sabido frenar su ímpetu surrealista, muy propio de la aludida corriente en donde ha fincado su devenir plástico, que podría considerarse disuelto para este último, para magnificar una atmósfera digna del mejor Chirico, con la trama que cubre la encarnadura de esos seres que aparecen como absortos vigilantes de la nada y cuyas existencias no alcanzamos a comprender: no sabemos si son estatuas, autómatas o seres humanos iguales a nosotros. Su trabajo lo define como el bejuquismo, consistente en hacer figuras humanas o cosas con los elementos con que ce forjan las canastas y las cestas, es decir, con bejuco y mimbre.
