About The Artwork
For a solo-exhibition in Artemisa gallery, Chelsea, NYC (April- May 16th, 2015) I created a dialogue bringing together two different bodies of my own work. On one hand, the latest series of gestural paintings on canvas. On the other, earlier photo-paintings, I made on tracing paper (portraying myself or people on buses or trains as they read their books or stare at their cell phones). Butterlies, 2010 was born of self-referred photos that were performances to be painted on parchment paper (photopainting). In New butterflies, 2015 I revisited that previous photopianting, but on canvas, changing the support and the matter, as I am as a person and a painter, also different, 5 years later. I use gesture and colour in a deliberate loose way, “wrapping” with my body and painting what was originaly inspired and born from photos I made...but in this case with no photo layer at all.

I live and work in Buenos Aires. I am a painter. I also make site-specific instalations, generally related to my archive of photos of workers I meet around my city, And I paint them mixing portraits with elements of my life in oil on canvas. Since 2005 I document everyday situations using photography to paint. I also use mixed media, and combine painting with photography to make abstract and mural paintings.
