Reconstructed Painting

This oil painting is part of a series based on the function and retention of memory. Ever lose someone socially in your life? Mourn their lost roll in your daily existence just to have that person enter stage left later as a different character in the plot? What did you do? Write them a new part? Weave the old and new together, or possibly whiteout previous lines and start fresh? For this painting I spent some time researching white matter lesions and the effects of them on memory loss and confabulation. Utilizing opaque white areas to connect, block, and redefine forms in the painting compositional space. Movement, line and transparent form continually morph space and form in this piece. Much like the relationships rebuilt or lost that inspired them.
