Saguaro Study II 2020 oil on panel 16 x 20 inches This Saguaro study is referenced from a photograph taken of the landscape that I grew up with in my backyard in Phoenix, Arizona. The Saguaro is native only to the Sonoran Desert which makes up the entirety of Arizona's landscape and is the only place on earth that they can be found in their natural habitat. They are very symbolic of this particular area of the southwest and my investigation into this subject matter is based on producing an image involving such a familiar subject from an objective point of view. Making that personal separation of observer and subject is intended to allow the viewer to connect to the subject with an unfiltered and unbiased lens.
