Art Description

Painting: Acrylic on Wood.

"Skein", acrylic on fiberboard.

A "skein" can be a length of yarn, or a long unraveling of clouds, or a flight of geese -- something stretched, pulled out in an infinite open space.

Here, a background is built up out of patterns of uniform brushstrokes laid down layer upon layer, creating an complex illusory space. Over this are suspended forms that resemble futuristic girders, or pieces of fabric stretched to the breaking point, or even organic structures like neurons or muscle cells -- all materials under tension.
