I have met several horses with vitiligo -- all greys. So I inevitably found it striking when I came across a photo of a dark bay Lipizzaner with this condition. I knew I had to paint him! Reference photo thanks to Wilna Van Zyl Jordaan.

Born in Rome and now based in Novara, Italy, Yasmine’s two greatest loves are horses and art – art in all its forms and horses in all their diverse colours, shapes and sizes. She views the horse-human relationship as a point of reference when considering humankind’s relation with the natural world, its complexity and contradictions. She did not attend art school, though she did successfully complete two distance learning courses on art history with the London Art College in the UK, under tutor Stewart Roberts. Learning the craft came mostly through trial-and-error, advice given by practicing artists, books -- her all-time favourite being "Animal Painting and Anatomy" by William Frank Calderon – and studying the work of the Old Masters. She mainly works in graphite, watercolour, and acrylics, and is always on the lookout for new creative avenues.
